First of course you must select the photo that you want to HDR it right? But before that, do you understand what HDR is? For a HDRed photo, it will be in high contrast, high saturation and every detail of the detail will pop up. You will need special image for it or else it will be difficult for you to see the difference in it. Thus you will need a medium to high frequency image. What does that mean? It means images with a lot of small small details, the more the better. An example of a medium to high frequency image is as below:
HDR is very in for now. This kind of styling effect will go out of date just like fashion. Usually you'll be able to see HDR in wedding photos.
Second step. Open photoshop then adjust the exposure a little in adobe camera raw. Now make a layer via copy. Change the blending mode of that layer to vivid light. Everything at this point will go ‘supernova’
Now invert that image. Next use the blurring tool to sharpen the images. Use surface blur. It can protect the edges. Put the values at a very high level. As high as possible without creating the halo.
We can bring out more details using the blurring tool. Its actually quite amazing as the image has been inverted. Group photo with a lot of people or buildings with a lot of details is especially good for HDR. We can super detail it and make it high contrast.
Back to the blurring tool. The threshold will control the halo. Halo is like the aura coming out from the object like a ghostly thing. Sometimes you want it, sometimes you don’t want it. Create another layer by compressing and flatten it into 1 layer to conserve memory. Change the blending mode to overlay light. Tadaaa… now you have your HDR effect on your image. Look at the details.
You can also create a mask of you just want to HDR 1 small part. Do not HDR every image as you will get bored of it. Use selectively.
